High Scope
Claire uses the principles of Highscope while working with senior
toddlers.
The average age of this group is two and a half. In highscope, the children learn through active learning. In the first hour of the morning, the room is set out with sand, water, table top activities, painting and play dough. The children decide what they would like to work with. They are encouraged to be independent and to come to their own decisions and choices. We have a large group time in which we play music, dress up and use the home corner.

We sing songs, read stories and make crafts. When the weather is fine we go out to the garden to play or plant in our vegetable patch. We often go for a walk in our 6 seater buggy. The session runs from 09:30am -12pm in which we plan, do and review.
We join the toddlers for dinner at noon. A diary is also kept to record what the children do and say during the day.
